I would be very interested to talk to you directly about this subject - as you will see from my research blog www.lifeand6months.com, my specialism is the history of tattoo preservation and the fabrication of human skin into various artefacts. I would very much like to hear from you - you can get in touch with me via the contact form on my blog.

Best wishes,

Dr. Angel. I got in touch with them and they said they had it destroyed as it was too macabre!Wyrd England Gazetteerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06866992256274279684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4773444332256441727.post-63893600637784773892013-02-27T22:03:37.664+00:002013-02-27T22:03:37.664+00:00I should probably clarify that this is an article ...I should probably clarify that this is an article from Countrylife magazine from the 50s, I just transcribed it. Opinions within are interesting but not my own, I copied it mainly for the reference to the skin cup, although the comparisons that Edward Elmhirst makes to the nazi use of human skin is worth considering, regardless of whether they made lampshades or not - they definitely removed it for decorative purposes.

I just read The Lampshade by Mark Jacobson a few days ago (out of an interest in the treatment of human remains) and it's a fairly interesting, if convoluted true story about the author coming across a verified human skin lampshade which turned up in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.

However I have reservations over whether it was a nazi-made lampshade, as the DNA result couldn't ascertain any more info about the skin other than it was human.
